James Howlett, known primarily as Logan and famously as Wolverine, is a Marvel Comics character whose first appearance was in The Incredible Hulk #181 (November 1974). Born in Alberta, Canada, in the late 19th century, Logan possesses a range of superhuman abilities, including accelerated healing and heightened senses. This healing factor grants him virtual immortality and the ability to recover from almost any injury.
Wolverine's skeleton is bonded with adamantium, an virtually indestructible metal. This was done against his will as part of the Weapon X program, a secret government operation. This augmentation gives him razor-sharp adamantium claws that extend from between his knuckles.
